Basically in this movie it’s set between 6 – 10 years after The X Files series. Mulder and Scully have gone separate ways and are NOT part of the FBI anymore. Scully is now a practicing Medical Doctor.

Mulder leads a private life and still continuing with the Paranormal stuff and staying out of sight of the Goverment since his a wanted man.

The FBI tracks down Dana Scully to try and get hold of Mulder. They say if Mulder can’t help them find an FBI agent who's life is at stake. Will Mulder help with  a case involving disappearing bodies and a ex-communicated priest,  who keeps getting visions.

Basically it's a Frankenstein story
