When a phone call breaks a typical X-File case briefing in AD Skinner's office, Mulder finds himself suddenly trapped and be forced to deal with events from one of his first year FBI Violent Crimes Unit cases in which he participated as a consultant and the killers' final victim. With two of the six serial killers escaped and on the run for months, Mulder has no clear understanding of what the case offered him in Santa Monica, except that he had to get Scully off of the case at the first opportunity.
